San Vigilio di Marebbe: Princess of the Dolomites

San Vigilio di Marebbe

San Vigilio di Marebbe, which is located about 1,200 meters above sea level, is also known as the "Princess of the Dolomites" due to its supreme beauty. It rests in the green valley of Marebbe, the pearl of the Val Badia. One of the main characteristics of San Vigilio di Marebbe is the detail that it is a "closed" valley, which plunges into the Nature Park and there it ends: the fact that, unlike most of the other valleys, it is not a transit valley, guarantees for fresh air and tranquility.
The small village with about 1,500 inhabitants has maintained the originality of a mountain community. The church in Gothic style in the center of the village shows beautiful colors frescoes, as it is usual in the townships of the Dolomites.

Forests and green meadows as far as the eye can see, and in winter the village disappears under a white coat, surrounded by the unique peaks of the Dolomites in Val di Marebbe.
A stroll through center of San Vigilio is always pleasant: spacious sidewalks along quiet streets, between the houses build in the typical mountain style, with lovely restaurants and shops.

All year around the village will organize various events: the festival of snow sculptures in January and the Nostalgic Weeks at the end of March, the blooming meadows and the streams full of water in spring, while in summer various performances, concerts, exhibitions of local arts and crafts, village festivals, and much more are taking place. In fall you can witness the return of livestock from the high alpine summer pastures, mountain festivals and the various holidays of the mountain communities in Val Badia, the Feast of Harvest, Saints...
